چکیده

The sensation of pitch appears normally to arise from the operation of a multiplicity of mechanisms. It is not readily possible to distinguish their relative contributions and it would be an advantage to be able to study an effect which was dependent on the operation of only one type of mediation. The aim of the present experiments was to arrive at and to examine a situation in which only a neural mechanism contributed to the sensation. Auditory lateralization can be made to depend only on the temporal difference between the stimuli applied to the two ears. When this condition is obtained the lateralization sensation is due only to the operation of a neural mechanism, since peripheral analysis cannot account for the effects observed. By examining the sensation of pitch which can be associated with this type of lateralization, it seems possible to arrange for a pitch sensation to be similarly independent of the action of peripheral analysis.

A Novel Spectrum Sensing Scheme Based on Periodicity of DVB-T Pilot Signals

This paper proposes a novel spectrum sensing technique for the digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) systems, which utilizes the periodicity of pilot signals in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. The proposed scheme can overcome the effect of the timing synchronization error by recorrelating the correlation values in the same sample distances. The numerical ...

تخمین مکان نواحی کدکننده پروتئین در توالی عددی DNA با استفاده پنجره با طول متغیر بر مبنای منحنی سه بعدی Z

In recent years, estimation of protein-coding regions in numerical deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequences using signal processing tools has been a challenging issue in bioinformatics, owing to their 3-base periodicity. Several digital signal processing (DSP) tools have been applied in order to Identify the task and concentrated on assigning numerical values to the symbolic DNA sequence, then app...

Accurate Short-term Analysis of the Fundamental Frequency and the Harmonics-to-noise Ratio of a Sampled Sound

We present a straightforward and robust algorithm for periodicity detection, working in the lag (autocorrelation) domain. When it is tested for periodic signals and for signals with additive noise or jitter, it proves to be several orders of magnitude more accurate than the methods commonly used for speech analysis. This makes our method capable of measuring harmonics-to-noise ratios in the lag...

Robust Real-Time Periodic Motion Detection, Analysis, and Applications

We describe new techniques to detect and analyze periodic motion as seen from both a static and moving camera. By tracking objects of interest, we compute an object’s self-similarity as it evolves in time. For periodic motion, the self-similarity measure is also periodic, and we apply Time-Frequency analysis to detect and characterize the periodic motion. The periodicity is also analyzed robust...

Detection of the 6.5- Base Periodicity in the C.elegans introns based on the Frequency Chaos Game Signal and the Complex Morlet Wavelet Analysis

The gene analysis has been the subject of extensive studies in evolutionary and molecular biology. However, these studies remain insufficient and require much work to comprehend the genomes mechanisms secrets. Actually, the available gene prediction tools are not accurate and introduce a high rate of errors [ix]: approximately only 40% of genes are correctly predicted [vii]. These errors arise ...
